Network/VPG has created a solution to incorporate HD signals through JPEG 2000 compression over SDTI, using existing 270Mbps networks. Each card in the VS901-TE-27 encoder / VS901-TD-27 pair:
Occupies a single slot in the Ventura chassis. Since a fully populated Ventura chassis can house up to 10 cards and 2 power supplies, this represents a cost saving solution for limited-space applications.
Delivers visually lossless compression to a 6:1 compression ratio
Input can be HD-SDI or SDI/ASI; input that is not high definition bypasses JPEG 2000 compression
Supports all HD video-framing formats at 1485Mbps and 1483.52Mbps.
Supports auto-sensing, so that SDI/ASI signals delivered as encoder input will bypass JPEG 2000 compression and decompression.
Supports multiplexing/demultiplexing of audio in an HD transport, or local AES embedding by the VS901 encoder.
Supports a variety of SFP optics to meet varying optical requirements.
The VS811-Sx-48 card
The VS811-S is another key component of the Ventura JPEG 2000 solution set, because it can multiplex eight HD signals that have been compressed by the VS901-TE-27 and transport them over an OC-48 or STM-16 network tributary. This 8-channel SDI/ASI/ SONET/SDH multiplexer/ demultiplexer is a high quality TDM solution for existing SONET/SDH OC48c or STM16 transport infrastructures. Each card in the VS811-SM-48 multiplexer / VS811-SD-48 de-multiplexer pair:
Occupies a single slot in the Ventura chassis. Since a fully populated Ventura chassis can house up to 10 cards and 2 power supplies, this represents a cost saving solution for limited-space applications—up to 80 circuits can be provisioned in a single chassis.
Manages SONET/SDH pointer adjustments.
Can carry format-independent inputs: SDI, SDTI and DVB-ASI.
Supports channel-level enable/disable control and selectable pattern generators.
Removes timing and alignment jitter from the 270Mbps optical signal (at the demux output).
Supports SFP optics in 1310, 1550 and any ITU CWDM or DWDM wavelengths.
