Electromagneticradarshavebeenshownpotentiallytobeusedforremotesensingofbiosignalsinamorecomfortableandeasierwaythanwearableandcontactdevices.Whilethereisanincreasinginterestinusingradarsforhealthmonitoring,theirperformancehasnotbeentestedandreportedeitherinpracticalscenariosorwithacceptablelowerrors.Therefore,weuseafrequencymodulatedcontinuouswave(FMCW)radaroperatingat77GHzinabedroomenvironmenttoextracttherespirationandheartratesofapatient,whoisusedtolyingdownonthebed.Indeed,theproposedsignalprocessingcontainsadvancedphaseunwrappingmanipulation,whichisunique.Inaddition,theresultsarecomparedwithareliablereferencesensor.Ourresultsshowthatthecorrelationsbetweenthereferencesensorandtheradarestimatesarein94%and80%forbreathingandheartrates,respectively.
