There are people who love cars. Some of my friends remind me of Marisa Tomei in the film My Cousin Vinny when she's called to the stand as an expert witness – that is, they can reel off astounding quantities of facts and minutiae about obscure details that make my eyes glaze over. I consider myself lucky if I manage to locate my car (a humble Kia Spectra) in the parking lot (car park?) at the mall – to me it's just one red car out of hundreds of other cars, many of which are also of the reddish persuasion. The point is that – generally speaking – I really don't care what I drive. My wife has a Mercedes Benz (I've heard these are rather good) and my 16-year old son has a big red Ford truck that his grandfather gave him. Both of them keep their respective vehicles polished and gleaming. The only time I clean my car is if someone comes over from England for a visit and – as a special treat – I take them for a drive through the automatic car wash. This means that my car gets cleaned once every couple of years or so (if it's lucky). But then ... as I was watching television yesterday evening ... I saw an advert for BMW that featured the most amazing car with transparent sides and an incredibly cool look to it. I immediately bounced over to their website to find out more, and discovered that we were looking at a concept car called the i8 ( Click here to visit this car on the BMW website). It seems that this car won't be available for purchase for a couple more years. Even worse, after a little Google (it's alright so long as no one is watching) I discovered that the asking price is going to be in the order of $450,000... so I don't think you'll be seeing me cruising around in one of these little beauties anytime soon (at least, not in this branch of the multi-universe).
