High voltage (e.g. 20V) on vin is frequently required, since (USB) cable inductance induced voltage overshoot during hot plugging.

The IC may be disabled when OV(over voltage, e.g. 6V) detected at vin, so that no high voltage appears at vbat side. If high voltage charging is required, the A2 has to be re-designed to handle high voltage.
