NFL Free Picks: St Louis Rams Season Win Totals

With every NFL fan having hope at the moment that this is their team’s year, it has got to be tough for fans of St Louis involved with sports betting to see a season win total posted at 4.5. Although Rams fans knew it would be a tough season with a rookie QB and minimal talent on both sides of the ball, they have to have hope that they can at least win more than a quarter of their games in 2010.

With the 49ers set as the team to achieve the most wins in the NFC West at a line of 8.5, and the Arizona Cardinals potentially not making it to a .500 season, the Rams surely have a chance to get to 5 wins right?

St Louis does start the season with some very winnable games against Arizona, @ Oakland, vs. Washington, vs. Seattle and @ Detroit, and if they can manage to get 1 or 2 wins here the young Rams can build some momentum. Early in the season is always a very tough scenario for a rookie QB to be involved with because the speed of the game overwhelms them. If Sam Bradford can somehow control his emotions and limit his mistakes, the Rams could easily start the season at 2-3 and would only need 3 wins out of 11 games to cash a ticket for their fans and bettors taking the over 4.5.

However, the rest of the schedule presents some dubious challenges for the Rams even though they have the 2nd easiest schedule in the league. Besides playing Tampa Bay and Kansas City, (and Seattle again), the Rams will face teams that were all .500 or better last year. They do get to finish the season with four of their last five games indoors, but they include opponents like Arizona, San Francisco (again) and the defending champions from New Orleans.

The Lions started a rookie QB last year and understand what kind of growing pains a franchise must endure with a #1 overall draft choice at QB in his first year. The Lions finished at 2-14 (a 200% improvement from 2008) so it is tough to expect the Rams to exceed that by a fair bit. St Louis does have something Detroit didn’t; a stud at RB in Jackson that can carry the bulk of the load if need be, but if he goes down, look out, 4.5 wins may have been too high of a number.
