直到上个月,我在EE Times Europe的News Letters里看到一篇关于龙芯的报导,就不免要在心里多打一个问号了。我犹豫了很久要不要把此文转过来。如果原文作者猜测的事情非常不巧的是事实,那龙芯所涉及的事情就不是简单的过度包装了,而是欺骗性的炒作。如果原文不幸在中国流传开了,希望龙芯方面给出一个让人满意的说法。
我摘录一段: ... ...Word is that STMicroelectronics is interested in buying the IP associated with the Godson, a 32-bit processor originally developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
This will be a strange one if true, if only because CAS confirmed it and then later said they didn't know much about it. An ST spokeswoman said her company doesn't know anything about it, either. Nevertheless, it's been ripe speculation in the Chinese media, which loves it when foreign companies take an interest in local technology and have been know to spin long tails when short on facts.
Anyway, our crack at trying to confirm this put us in touch with Guojie Li, director of Institute of Computing Technology at CAS. Li said ST has purchased the manufacturing and global sales rights of the Godson 2E, with expected sales of more than 10 million units per year. Again, STMicro is mum on this.

ST 应该不会买龙芯,因为ST并无意进入CPU芯片这个只剩两大巨头的市场,另一方面在嵌入式领域ST 有自己完善的ST7,ST9,ST20,ST40核心并且还有RISC重要核心SH4和ARM的授权,在ST的很多SOC里面都可以看到.
所以ST也没必要再多此一举买这个并不成熟的龙芯,除非是由于政治上的交易或目的.
