Display Consortium Abstract Recent advances in the development of organic materials to conduct electricity and emit light should provide the basis for the economic manufacture of active matrix displays built upon organic light emitting diode (OLED) technology, beginning around 2004. The steps leading from laboratory science and prototype demonstrations to high-volume low-cost fabrication in the years 2004-2010 are outlined and the major processing challenges are identified.
