The TMS320C5000E family of digital signal processors (DSPs) features Host Port Interface Controllers (HPI) and Direct Memory Access Controllers (DMAC) for efficient data movement without any CPU involvement. The HPI enables the DSP to interface to host processors
(typically microcontrollers) bidirectionally with minimal or no external interface logic. This application report presents a hardware interface and a software protocol to communicate between the TMS320VC5402 DSP and the MSP430x33x mixed signal microcontroller.
