To write dates, we use cardinal numbers.
One (1) is a cardinal number.
To say dates, we use ordinal numbers.

For the date, May 1, we say May first, not May one.
First is an ordinal number.

May 2 is May second.
May 3 is May third.
May 4 is May fourth.
May 5 is May fifth.
May 6 is May sixth.
May 7 is May seventh.
May 8 is May eighth.
May 9 is May ninth.
May 10 is May tenth.

写日期时,我们用基数。
One (1) 是基数。
说日期时,我们用序数。

表示五月一日时，我们说 May first，而不说 May one。
First 是序数。

五月二日是 May second。
五月三日是 May third。
五月四日是 May fourth。
五月五日是 May fifth。
五月六日是 May sixth。

五月八日是 May eighth。
