行业中总会有处于核心位置或支配位置的商业组织，如汽车行业的主机厂、电商行业的阿里等。正是因为支配地位，他们的业务流程等价于行业业务流程或者说就是行业流程。因此，这些组织建设信息化系统时，系统中的角色不可避免的延伸到了他的上游如供应商，他的下游如4S店。利益捆绑也促使核心企业的上下游愿意参与到该系统甚至开放他们的核心数据，但仅限于有选择的开放给核心企业。于是就有了什么ERP、CRM、WMS等等细分系统。

企业的业务流程，始终伴随着实虚流程，实体流程即是从原料到成品的实现过程，我们可以称之为物质流。生产加工过程中，物质形态发生了变化，因其中附属了企业的人力物力，从而产生了增值，这是绝对价值的增加；虚拟流程体现为生产加工过程中附属了代表人创造能力的无形的技术能力的属性，提高了生产效率，从而产生了增值，这是相对价值的增加，相对价值不仅仅是纯粹的技术能力，他是生产效率、管理能力、资金周转效率等企业综合能力的体现，在系统中，被称之为信息或数据。所谓信息，就是为我所用的序列化的数据。信息流是伴随着物联流的产生而存在的，对信息流的持续挖掘分析的外在体现就是企业的技术创新。
